Vie to be the first to capture the flag in a team of 3 – 5 members made up of:
Team members must reside in Singapore. One application per team is necessary for registration. Only shortlisted teams can participate and will be notified with more information on the Challenge.
* Compulsory: Contains a physical challenge kit, vouchers, and other event-related items. One team representative will be required to collect the items from a designated location.
It is unlikely that participants will need to create programs from scratch. However, understanding of file systems, network traffic, use of tools like Wireshark or equivalent, knowledge of scripting such as Python, cryptography, and IoT protocols are some skills that could be advantageous to participants.
There are no pre-requisites. However, as the event is fully virtual, you are required to have broadband internet access in Singapore. In addition, you are required to provide your own laptops. Please ensure you and your teammates have the right laptops that meet the requirements below.
For the best experience, the event supports only Windows laptops and Macbooks. To participate in the event, you will be asked to install the following:
- Discord client
- Zoom client
- VPN software client
- 3D game client
Note that the above are in addition to your own tools (e.g. Kali, Wireshark, Burpsuite etc) that are required for you to crack the challenges.
Requirements for Windows laptops:
- OS: Windows 10 (64-bit)
- Processor: Intel i5 or AMD Ryzen 5 or above
- Memory: 8GB and above
- Disk space: 50GB and above free disk space. SSD drives are recommended
- Graphics card: Recommended but not compulsory to have dedicated graphics card for best effect
Requirements for Macbooks:
- OS: MacOS Big Sur or later (version 11 or later)
- Processor: Intel i5 and above (please note that Macbooks that are running M1 chips are not supported)
- Memory: 8GB and above
- Disk space: 50GB and above free disk space. SSD drives are recommended
- Graphis card: Recommended but not compulsory to have dedicated graphics card for best effect
Participants will need to do their own research and learning through platforms such as the internet.
Only full-time students from Junior Colleges, Institutes of Technical Education, Polytechnics or Universities can be part of the team. See “Form Your Team” under The Mission for more info.
This event is organized by HTX. Employees from MHA and HTX will not be able to participate in the Challenge. Please check with us at htx_ic@htx.gov.sg if you are unsure.
Team members can be from different institutions.
There is no limit to the number of teams sent. Online registration needs to be done as a team, and teams will be notified if they are shortlisted.
